New birthdata base The danish monthly magazine "Stjernerne" has existed for 50 years now and has put out all the publihed horoscope data in a data base on the internet. Ingeniuosly planets and houses are shown for each entry. The adress is seen left of here. De Nova Stella acquired The library has obtained a copy of Tycho Brahes first work, 'De Nova Stella', that lended him world fame, It is in an almost identical reprint issued 1901 by The Royal Danish Society of Sciences. It is often overlooked that half of Tychos book contains astrological interpretations. Sophie:11 issued The museums information letter features a biography on Johannes Pratensis, astrologer and medical professor plus an overview of danisk astorlogers in the Renaissance including their bith data. More danish time lines The museum has established three time lines for danish astrology. They are: Modern Times (1850-1950), Post War (1950-80) and The Present (1980-). They are as yet but a simple series of data, but will be made more comprehensive over time. Sophie:10 issued The information letter of the Museum containes a bigraphical paper on Lorentz Benedicht, the royal printer and astrological writer. Plus a preliminary bibliography of danish renaissance books on astrology. Time-line on renaissance astrology The museum has created a timeline on the history of danish astrology in the Renaissance. It is preliminary and only in danish consiting in data from the Memorial Pages and the ASMUS data base bibliographies. Translation into english and additional epoch material will emerge presently. Comet astrology in the Renaissance The oldest printed newspaper but one by a danish author is on comet astrologgy. Author is the mathematician Jørgen Dybvad [Georgius Dibuadius], later professor of theology at the University of Copenhagen, The title of the 32 pages is "En nyttig Underuissning, om den COMET, som dette Aar 1577, in Nouembrij, først haffuer ladet sig see". It was nicely printed by Laurentz Benedicht in 1578. and has been acqured by the museum in form of a close reprint from 1922. Wrong data on Denmark The Book of World Horoscopes by Nicholas Campion contains wrong data for Denmark. There were two meetings held on the Constitution Day, June 5th 1849, and both were attended by the king, Frederik VII. The first was the assembley of Statsrådet, who signed the constitution, Grundloven, at 11:15 LST. The second was the assembley of Rigsforsamlingen an hour later, where it dissolved itself. It is this late, but wrong meeting that is referrted to in Campions book. Moreover the constitutional meeting took place at Hermitage Casle in Lyngby, some 10 km north of Copenhagen, and not in the city of Copenhagen. Renaissance work acquired The 1591 work on meteorological astrology by Tycho Brahes assistent, Peter Flemlose – "En elementisch og jordisch Astrologia" – has been acquired by the musem in the form of an identical danish reprint from 1885 with an introduction to the author by F. R. Friis. Oldest danish book on astrology There has been found refference to an early danish renaissance work on astrology purchased in 1568, at least 25 years prior to to the oldest book hitherto known. The tile is "En Dansk Planetbock", the author is unknown and this early edition is now lost, but reprints is known from 1586, 1710 , 1834 and 1849 The oldest preserved book, Benedicht's "En Astronomischer bescriffuelse" from 1593. has some identical illustrations but curiously enough of much better quality . Send us a postcard The Cultural Astrology Collection contains all objects with astrological pictures, shapes and contents. Among these are any postcards with astrological motives. We urge all to send us postcards with astro-motives from far and near. They will be added to our existing collection and displayed in the gallery of AstrologiHuset We are looking forward to see heaps of postcards in the coming year. Year of Renaissance Museums and universities has made 2006 the national year of the Renaissance. Accordingly the Museum of Astrology will put focus on danish astrology here through papers in SOPHIE. A series of chapters from Daily Life in Scandinavia in the 16th Century byTroels-Lund has already done this in the magazine HOROSKOPET during 2005.
